Dependencies vs. Day Count
When vs. what must happen first.

Dependencies describe the relationship and order between tasks. They show what must be completed before another task can begin or finish. For example, the accounting team may need to receive all bank statements before it can complete the bank reconciliation.
A day count is simply a schedule based on the number of days assigned to each task. For example, a checklist might say that bank reconciliation should be completed by Day 2 and financial statements by Day 5.
The difference is that a day count focuses on when a task should be completed, while dependencies focus on what must happen first. A day-count schedule can become inaccurate when information or approvals are delayed. A dependency-based checklist is more flexible because it shows the actual conditions that must be met before the next stage can begin.
